With Apple's September 9th event now confirmed, anticipation for what the company will unveil has reached a new level. The iPhone 6 is expected, in 4.7 and 5.5 inch options, but the big wildcard appears to be what will happen with the rumored Apple wearable. A recent report from Re/code says that the device would be announced at the event, but a new report from the site says that while the wearable would be announced, it may not actually ship until 2015. While the move would mean the wearable would miss the holiday shopping season, it's not unprecedented for Apple when it comes to the introduction of major new products. The original iPhone was released six months after it's unveiling in 2007, while the original iPad shipped three months after it was announced in 2010. With analysts expecting the new iPhone to potentially raise sales by 20%, the company certainly won't be hurting. Apple was up slightly to $102.56 in trading late Friday. UPDATE: It appears that Recode has gotten some more information on the wearable, including the all-important detail of price. According to the site Apple executives have discussed a $400 price tag for the new wearable, though sources also told them "consumers should expect a range of prices for different models." The $400 price would make the Apple wearable significantly pricier than devices from rivals Samsung, LG and Pebble and more in the range of the Timex Ironman One GPS+ smartwatch announced this summer which features a 3G connection. One reason bandied about as for why the price would be higher is because it will do much more than a traditional fitness tracker, including possibly being used for mobile payments. Apple has been rumored to be adding mobile payments to the next iPhone, and has been said to have discussed the possibility with major credit card companies like Visa. A separate Recode report this weekend said the company was has reached an agreement with American Express on the new payments system. Blogs: usatoday.com
